BIOTECHNOLOGY AND BIOCHEMESTRY LABS - ML414 – 416

Research laboratories in Biotechnology and Biochemistry seek to develop and promote multidisciplinary research to develop biotechnological processes of interest to the national industry.
Contribute to the improvement of the environment
Biological systems
Products and processes modification for specific uses
Scaling of fermentation processes
Molecular biology applied to biochemical processes
Metabolic engineering

SCALING PROCESSES LABORATORY – ML 037

It allows students to approach industrial processes using and manipulating pilot-scale equipment, for example pilot distillation units.
Undergraduate and graduate support for the implementation of the students’ practices and projects.
Separation processes, chemical balance and experimental design.

PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES DESIGN LABORATORY – ML 305

Development, characterization and research in colloidal systems area, such as emulsions, suspensions and gels.
The purpose of the laboratory is the development of products mainly in petrochemical, food and cosmetics, contributing to research and teaching strengthening, providing support to the degree projects, master’s and doctorate.

CHEMICAL PROCESSES LAB – ML 418

Assembly and operation of semi-industrial processes
Practice, degree projects and graduate thesis
Teaching support and research
The main purpose of the laboratory is to perform experimental practices in similar conditions to those used in industries to study and optimize productive processes.
